Perpetual Support for Aging Products
OEM Situation
A series of APUs (auxilliary power units) was moved out of production. The OEMs goal was to have their focus on customer satisfaction and superior quality maintained by a licensee who could support the aftermarket for as long as the aircraft using these products were in service. Successfuly licensing these products would free the OEM’s resources for the introduction of new technology and product development.
Ontic Answer
The OEM licensed the product to Ontic, the leading provider of legacy support. This enabled the OEM to take advantage of Ontic’s benefits of licensing while their supply and knowledge bases were still intact — insuring a seamless transition and uninterrupted stream of product to their customers.
