Beyond The Job: Life Skills

We want to prepare our Early Careers colleagues with practical guidance and resources to help them navigate some of life's biggest milestones with confidence. Whether they're understanding renting or buying a home, planning for future life events, or building healthy wellbeing habits, the program provides expert advice and tools designed to develop valuable life skills alongside their professional growth.

Our cooking on a budget sessions help our Apprentices and Graduates learn about nutrition, how to meal plan and prep, while also teaching useful cooking techniques, knife skills, and useful tips like how to get the most out of a whole chicken.

Covering everything from changing the fuse in a plug to how to lay concrete paving, our basic home maintenance sessions aim to set our early careers colleagues up with practical skills to help them be more self-sufficient at home.

Our aim is for our early careers alumni to move into subject matter expert (SME) and/or leadership positions within 10 years of finishing their programs. To support this, we provide leadership coaching to help give them the confidence to move into those management positions, and to be able to support their future teams well.

There are many other smaller learning opportunities as well as more formal sessions throughout the course of each program, all supported by opportunities to be sociable together and learn to build work-life balance.
